How to Grow Healthy Long Locs Naturally
So, you’ve committed to your New Year’s resolution and growing your locs long and now you want to make sure you do it right. The first way to go is naturally and nutritiously, but you probably already knew that. There are some useful tricks out there to encourage new growth, but the most important tip is to keep yourself, yes your whole self, healthy, so you see positive results all around, not just up on your scalp or down along your locs. Here are a few tips to promote long and luxurious locs.
Tip #1 Don’t Over Twist
There are times when twisting is necessary and then there are those times where you don’t even realize you have been twisting your locs for the past 15 minutes. Tip #2 Keep Your Locs Tucked Away While You Sleep
Find a head covering that works for you and your locs while you sleep. Make sure it’s not made of cotton to reduce or eliminate any unnecessary lint, dust, or any other flying particle that likes to nestle in your locs. Cotton may also dry out your locs and scalp, so it’s unquestionably a fabric you want to avoid when possible. In general, you should keep your locs covered in a satin or silk head covering when you know you will be in a dusty environment, to avoid any additional risks.
Tip #3 Your Diet Matters
Looking for another reason to commit to a healthy diet this year? Well, here you have it. A diet rich in Vitamin E and A will boost hair growth, not to mention all of the other healthy benefits they will have on your skin and nails. Foods rich in Vitamin E are, Almonds, Spinach, Sunflower Seeds, Avocado and Wheat Germ. Wheat Germ you can find in whole grain breads and cereals.
