On Valentines Day
We’re celebrating the day of love this month, but we don’t want you to follow the belief that today is just a day for romantic love. It’s a chance to celebrate an all inclusive love, a shared love. There is love to share with everyone, your family, your friends, your pets and your plants (and your locs!).
Love is something that should be expanding and shared with the people that surround you. It's always nice to receive flowers or a box of chocolate from a lover, or even a secret admirer but, why not treat yourself to some sweet self love this Valentine's day? You could never spoil yourself with too much love, too much chocolate yes, but too much love, we think not.
In Eastern religions like Buddhism, the Heart Chakra, also known as the Anahata, is the fourth primary chakra. The heart chakra is the center of love, compassion and joy and is known for passing love through your life. Through your Anahata you create deep and strong connections with others, you connect to your sense of caring and compassion, kindness, respect and most importantly, self love. As we have all heard, the only way to love another is by loving yourself first, so why not make this Valentine’s day a day for giving and self-love. Give to yourself, show some appreciation for the person that you are.
By opening up your heart chakra you are sending out love and kindness to those that are around you and of course, to yourself. Love is said to be the only real unifying force that we have in this life. So, even if you are someone who is in a romantic relationship, don't forget to connect to the love you have inside of yourself, feel it, own it, and share it with those you care about.
If you are one of the lucky ones to have enough love to go around, you can even share love and kindness to the person working at your local supermarket, bus driver, or coffee shop barista. It's a new year for love and greatness, be open and go for it.
